Charley’s Aunt, a hilarious farce by Brandon Thomas, has gone down in classic theatre lore pretty much like The Mousetrap: when it first opened in London, it was a phenomenal success (1,466 performances). It also had another long run on Broadway. It has toured internationally and has been revived continually and adapted for films and TV with everybody from Sydney Chaplin (half-brother of Charlie) to Jack Benny and Danny La Rue playing the central character, the infamous but fake Charley’s Aunt.

MAIN CHARACTERS:
Charles (“Charley”) Wykeham: An Oxford undergraduate student, Charley is in love with Amy Spettigue. – 20 – 30 yrs+
Jack Chesney: An Oxford undergraduate student and Charley’s friend, Jack is in love with Kitty Verdun. – 20 – 30 yrs+
Lord Fancourt Babberley (“Babbs”): An Oxford undergraduate student and Charley and Jack’s friend, Babbs grudgingly plays a part in Jack and Charley’s ruse by impersonating Charley’s aunt. He is love with Ela Delahay. – 20 – 30 yrs+
Kitty Verdun: Mr. Spettigue’s ward, Kitty is in love with Jack. – 18 – 25yrs
Amy Spettigue: Mr. Spettigue’s niece, Amy is in love with Charley. – 18 – 25yrs
SUPORTING CHARACTERS:
Colonel Sir Francis Chesney: Jack Chesney’s father, who is visiting his son at Oxford. He first falls for Charley’s aunt’s money, but then makes another discovery – 50+ yrs
Donna Lucia d’Alvadorez: Charley’s wealthy and exotic aunt from Brazil, “where the nuts come from.” – 40 + yrs
Stephen Spettigue: Amy’s uncle and Kitty’s guardian, Spettigue is a greedy and irritable solicitor, the “villain” of the story. – 50+ yrs
Brassett: Jack’s manservant – 40+ yrs
Ela Delahay: An orphan, Ela is the adopted niece and traveling companion of Donna Lucia d’Alvadorez. She is loved by Babbs. – 18 – 25yrs
