AUDITIONS: FRIDAY 18 SEPTEMBER

Show dates: 16 DEC 2020 – 28 JAN 2021 at Playhouse Somerset West

NOTE: SHOW DATES will be finalized once we make the cast. We will not perform after 20 DEC until 7 JAN. Rehearsals will be scheduled per scene and group so that no time is wasted. Music rehearsals take place from OCTOBER until opening. All rehearsals will take place in Somerset West/Strand.

Audition Details

Children’s Roles: Girls aged 6 - 14

- Annie (8 – 12), Molly (6 – 9), Pepper (10-14), Duffy (12 – 16), July (12 – 16), Tessie (9- 12), Kate (9 – 12).

- NOTE: Two older orphans, Pepper and Duffy, will also play Boyelan Sisters and NYC dancers.

- Prepare: Sing the song ‘Tomorrow’ from Annie and be prepared to say lines from the musical in an American accent. Scripts provided on the day.

- TIME: 2.30pm – 4.30pm Friday 18 SEPT.

Male Roles: 3 Leading men

- Oliver ‘Daddy’ Warbucks: (25+) Billionaire businessman who opens his home – and finally is heart – to Annie

- Daniel ‘Rooster’ Hannigan + Ensemble: (17+) Miss Hannigan’s no-good brother, out for a quick buck

- Franklin D. Rooselvelt + Policeman + Ensemble: (25+) President of the USA and friend to Daddy Warbucks

- Prepare: Sing the song ‘Tomorrow’ from Annie and be prepared to say lines from the musical in an American accent. Scripts provided on the day.

- TIME: 17:00 – 17:45 Friday 18 SEPT.

Female Roles: 3 Leading ladies

- Grace Farrell: (25+) Daddy Warbuck’s faithful secretary who loves Annie from the start

- Lily St. Regis + Ensemble: (17+) Rooster’s girlfriend, is smarter than she appears from the name of the hotel

- Miss Hannigan: (23+) The orphanage matron, disillusioned and comic. Hates children but fond of alcoholic beverages.

- Prepare: All please audition in heels and a skirt. Grace auditions to sing the song ‘Getting to Know You’ from The King and I or ‘My Favourite Things’ from The Sound of Music and be prepared to say lines from the musical in an American accent. Scripts provided on the day. Lily auditions to sing ‘Easy Street’. Hannigan auditions to sing and perform ‘Little Girls’.

- TIME: 17:45 – 19:00 Friday 18 SEPT.

Chorus Roles: 2 men, 1 woman

- There are many cameo and solo singing and speaking roles in the dancing chorus. All are in American / British accents.

- Roles include: Judge Brandeis, Bert Healy, A Boylan sisters, Drake, Mrs Pugh, Dog catcher, Harold Ikes, Perkins, Howe.

- The chorus performs various roles but certain parts can remain specialised.

- Prepare: Sing the song ‘Tomorrow’ from Annie and be prepared to say lines from the musical in an American accent. Scripts provided on the day. Be prepared to do basic movement routine.

- TIME: 19:00 – 20:00 Friday 18 SEPT.

Be prepared for CALLBACKS on Sunday 20 SEPT if needed. Rehearsals commence 27 SEPT.
