Britt
28 years old, Western Cape, South Africa
am a 22 year old female and the theatre (/film) bugs' bite has come back and I am itching to act again.
Here is a little bit about myself and my history with the arts;
Since primary school and throughout high school I was a member of school theatre clubs, did private drama lessons, attended the well known comedian, Emo Adams's acting classes on weekends in my early stages of high school, I matriculated with an 86% for Dramatic Arts and was accepted into the University of Cape Town for the specialized degree in Theatre and Performance for 2018. However, I was torn between Law and theatre and I'm currently in my final year of BA LAW.
I also matriculated with the subject musical studies and can play classical guitar, however I don't feel exceptionally talented in that sphere so I'll leave it to those who are, but for general purposes I know a thing or two about performing and rehearsals!
My most humbling moment within the Arts was when I partook in my high schools one Act Play festival, in matric I wrote and directed a play about the #FEESMUSTFALL movement and it won in front of a panel of external judges, it went on to be the school's annual production, that was all great, but the most satisfying part for me was engaging with an audience and relaying a message that met them on their level, and walked them up to level of understanding the play tried to teach.
As much as I have taken on such a keen interest in the law, and my passion for human rights (which was actually triggered through the subject matter of plays and the arts in general) still is very much alive, I haven't let this burning passion within me to act fade. Right now, I feel more ready than ever to go to auditions and castings and try my best to do what I love, and what I'm talented in.
I'm dedicated, passionate and willing to accept the challenge and to learn and grow.
